Back in February, planning a trip like this was quite new to me. We were supposed to leave everything to a travel agency but, in the end, decided to do the itinerary and booking by ourselves. I realized that we could save a lot! Also, going on a trip using an orbitz coupon can give us more savings.
View of Tagbilaran City from the airplane
My friend and I flew via Airphil Express from Manila to Tagbilaran City, the capital of Bohol. At the airport, we were picked up by a van from Bohol Coconut Palms Resort where we're staying for two nights. We arrived about noon which was already late to do any tour so we decided to stay at the hotel and start exploring Bohol the next day.
If you plan on seeing the famous attractions in Bohol, you will need at least two days. The Bohol countryside tour and the Panglao tour are the most common tours being offered in the island. We had four days to spend so we were able to cover these tours during our entire stay. We contacted Bohol Day Tour in advance to book for these tours. During that time they had the cheapest rates I found online. We paid PhP1500 per person based on two people for this tour.
1. Chocolate Hills
What's the better way to start the countryside tour than to visit the famous Chocolate Hills! You can't truly say you've been to Bohol if you didn't see these amazing natural wonders.
2. Butterfly Conservation Center
Simply Butterflies Conservation Center is located in Bilar town which is the first butterfly livelihood breeding and conservation program in Bohol.
3. Man-made Forest
The man-made forest in Bohol is said to be the first and only man-made forest in the Philippines. It is a stretch of two kilometers of densely planted Mahogany trees. Passing through the highway between the forest was a cool experience, literally.
4. Hanging Bridge
The hanging bamboo bridge is a fun tourist spot in Bohol. The bridge is crossing the Sipatan River in the Municipality of Sevilla, Bohol. If you're afraid of heights, you might have second thoughts on crossing the bridge as it tends to sway especially if more people are on it.
5. Loboc River Cruise
This was where we took our lunch and it was my first time to eat aboard a floating restaurant. The experience was relaxing as we cruised the calm river of Loboc. The Loboc River Cruise is one the popular attractions in Bohol that draw local and foreign tourists.
6. Tarsier
The Philippine tarsier is one of the smallest primates in the world. No trip to Bohol would be complete without seeing these cute little creatures.
7. Prony
Prony is said to be the world's longest and heaviest living snake in captivity.
8. Baclayon Church
One of the attractions we were looking forward to visit is the Baclayon church. Baclayon Church is one of the oldest churches in the Philippines and is found in town of Baclayon, Bohol.
9. Blood Compact Commemorative Shrine
Also called as the Sandugo Shrine, it is one of the historical places located in Tagbilaran City. It portrays the first treaty of friendship between the brown and white races.
