Caramoan: Lahos Island

Lahos was the first island that we visited on our first day of Caramoan island hopping tour. Lahos island is part of the short trip since it's located along with other islands and islets in the southern part of Caramoan Peninsula. They are quite close from Paniman beach, which is one of the jump-off points for island hopping.

It was almost 12 noon when we left Paniman. The sun was on its highest and we couldn't wait to get in the small motorized boat. Kuya Ramil and his grandson were our tour guides slash boat men. En route to Lahos island, we enjoyed the scenic view of limestone karst and lush green mountains.

While approaching Lahos island, we couldn't contain our excitement to take a dip in its crystal clear water. It took us about 10 minutes to get to the island from Paniman Beach. We immediately looked for a shaded area where to keep our things and started exploring the island.

Lahos island is distinctively beautiful because it has two beaches. The main side where our boat docked is longer than the other side. The shore is hugged by superb white sand which is said to disappear during high tide. It's the reason why the island was named as such, from the word “Lahos” or “Laho” (which means “vanish” in English).

Another remarkable feature of the island are the two giant limestone rocks that divide the two beaches. It's nicer to swim on the other side because the sand is more compact and the water is very calm. We wanted to stay longer but needed to leave for our next destination. Lahos island is pristine and charming that I didn't want to leave. For this place alone, we thought the 12-hour trip to Caramoan was worth it.

They say this the most beautiful island in Caramoan peninsula according to some mags, what's your opinion about it? The rock formation, white beach, blue waters and lush green trees are perfect... you capture nice compositions of the island. I love every shot!
