I am an Empowered Traveler!

On May 23, 2012, Meet Manila held its launch party entitled "Tertulia Night for #ThoughtfulTourism" which is an advocacy to promote thoughtful tourism and to take Philippine tourism to the next level. Being an ordinary person who just love to travel, it was truly an honor to be chosen as one of the Empowered Travelers during the event.

When I first heard about the website, I immediately support the advocacy of the group. We share the same vision of promoting the beauty of Philippines and encouraging every Filipino to explore their own country. These are the same reasons why I started my own travel blog and my Facebook page where I share my travel stories and photos. I want to invite every Filipino to discover the treasures just hidden in their own backyard.

When Meet Manila announced their call for empowered travelers, I joined and fortunately, my entry won me a spot as one of the empowered travelers. I did not expect to be selected as I do all of these to show my support for our local tourism and for the love of my country. With this, I'm very thankful for the opportunity as this will allow me to explore more of the places in the Philippines and showcase the real beauty of the country through its people, culture and natural wonders.

Another highlight of the event was the presentation of 15 community heroes from all walks of life who epitomize Meet Manila's advocacy. It was a gathering of different travel groups and key influencers who share the same advocacy and passion. It was truly a great night!

Leveraging the power of the Internet and social media to promote thoughtful tourism is something everyone can do and participate with. Let's work together in promoting Philippine tourism by traveling around the country, rediscovering our colorful history and rich culture and sharing it to the world.

If you have interesting stories and photos about the Philippines to share, contact Meet Manila through their website at www.meetmanila.com or check out their Facebook page.
