Quick Side Trip to Camsur Watersports Complex (CWC)

Camsur Watersports Complex or CWC was just an additional trip to our Caramoan escapade. It's located in Pili, the capital of Camarines Sur, which is next to Naga City so those who visit Caramoan usually include CWC as a side trip. CWC has increasingly become a popular cable park not only to local, but foreign tourists as well, because of wakeboarding and other unique watersports. Being the first world-class watersports complex in the country, CWC has tremendously contributed in boosting the tourism industry of Camarines Sur, making the province the "Wakeboard Capital of the Philippines."

After our amazing Caramoan island hopping experience for two days, we had to finally bid goodbye to Survivor island and check out CWC. It's our last destination before finally heading back to Manila on the same day. We took the 11AM boat trip from Guijalo to Sabang Port because we wanted to take our time.

Upon arriving at Sabang Port, we immediately looked for a transportation to Naga City but unfortunately found none. It seemed like the jeepneys and vans had already left and we're the only tourists heading to Naga at that time. We eventually decided to take our lunch in the nearby carinderia while hoping we could still catch a jeepney. Afterwards we were informed that there's a van at the terminal that's scheduled to leave for Naga City. Great! Only the two of us and another lady were the passengers of the van. The fare was P150 but we had to add P50 since we requested to be dropped off right at Camsur Watersports Complex.

All along we thought everything was good after informing the conductor at the terminal (who informed the driver) where to drop us off. However, we had already reached Naga City when the driver asked our destination. We realized that there was a miscommunication between him and the conductor earlier, and that the driver (who's in his 60's I guess) doesn't know what or where CWC is. CWC is located in Pili which is BEFORE Naga if you're coming from Sabang -- so we passed by it already! Thanks to the lady passenger who's quite familiar of the place and instructed the driver to turn back and pointed the direction.

We arrived at CWC shortly before 3PM and left our bags in their luggage keeping counter while still deciding if we should try wakeboarding or not. For the meantime, we decided to explore the complex and took snacks while watching and taking photos of wakeboarding in action.

I'm not really sure but I found the atmosphere quite depressing (or too relaxing) at that time -- maybe because we're just too tired from our Caramoan escapade or we just didn't really feel like doing the sports or we just got intimidated to try it. It's not that we didn't appreciate it but coming from Caramoan, the sudden change of scenery (from natural to man-made) would take some time to adjust with. In the end, we decided to just kill our time by watching riders showing their tricks and stunts which we enjoyed. Probably it would have been different if we were with group of people who were too interested to try it. I look forward to coming back though. But for extreme sports enthusiasts, this must be something you shouldn't miss when you are in CamSur.

Camsur Watersports Complex also offers different type of accommodation from villas to made shift container rooms. You can visit their website at www.cwcwake.com for accommodation and wakeboarding rates and other info.

We left CWC after staying for less than two hours. We took a tricycle (P15) outside the complex to take us to the highway where we can ride a jeepney to Central Bus Terminal in Naga City. Upon arriving, we immediately secured our tickets for a 7PM trip from Peñafrancia Tours, the same bus line we used going to Caramoan from Manila. It's still two hours before the trip so we decided to stay at SM Naga since it's just walking distance from the terminal.

Unfortunately, when we went back to the terminal and got on the bus, our seats were taken -- only to find out that the lady at the counter of Peñafrancia Tours office issued duplicate seat numbers. So we got bumped off the bus since there's no more available seats for that trip. Bummer. We felt disappointed because the next available trip is at 9PM so we decided to request for a refund and took another bus line which was leaving in 20 minutes. It's a good thing because the fare was cheaper, we only paid P550 per person for the trip.

  1. Buti na lang at may van pa. suerte pa rin at medyo mura na ang P150 plus additional fare to get you off to the wake boarding site.
