The Loft Hotel entrance
The Loft Hotel (previously known as The Loft Hotel and Arcade) is situated right behind The Strip - the newest hangout destination in Pala-o, Iligan City - where you can find a few good restaurants, coffee shops, a spa, and a karaoke lounge. After a quick stop in the Baslayan Koi Fish Pond and an early lunch at Cafe Ilaya where we had durian shake and beef randang, we didn't have a hard time finding for this 3-star accommodation.
The room is good for two persons and features two single beds and a private bathroom with hot and cold shower. It is also air-conditioned and has free Wifi, cable TV, complimentary bottled water, safety deposit box, towels and toiletries.
Since my primary goal in Iligan City was to explore the nearest waterfalls, I wasted no time and left The Loft Hotel after a smooth check-in and settling my stuff in my room. The room can be accessed with a key card which also serves as a power switch thereby saving energy when the room is vacated. It was great since I would be spending most of the time outside the hotel and return in the evening after my tour.
Due to their convenient location, it's easy to take a public transportation from the city to the nearby must-visit attractions such as the Maria Cristina Falls, Tinago Falls and Mimbalot Falls which I was able to visit in my second time in Iligan City. Just a background, we failed to see Maria Cristina Falls and the other waterfalls during my previous trip to northern Mindanao, specifically to Iligan City, since I didn't plan our itinerary well. So imagine how happy I was when I got this chance to experience them...at last!
The ground floor has glass walls, including the staircase and elevator area, allowing natural light during the day. The Loft Hotel has five floors that are serviced by an elevator and has a total of 30 rooms. For private events, their Function Room which is good for up to 150 persons can be rented. Some parts of the hotel are still under construction though which means more improvements and expansions are expected in the near future. I hope to see them completed when I return (fingers crossed).
Since it's located in Iligan City's new commercial hub, finding for places to eat is not a problem. In fact, there is a wide choices of restos around the area. In The Strip, you will find restaurants such as Delecta’s Diner and CafĂ©, Calda Pizza and Flamoo. When I was there, a live acoustic band was playing in the evening at a KTV bar called Watever Family KTV located just across the hotel front.
The staff at The Loft Hotel are friendly and approachable as well. They were always smiling and were to able to assist me in getting a cab from the hotel which I eventually hired to take me to the airport for my return flight.
Their room rates start at P1,700 for matrimonial and two single bed type rooms. On the other hand, their suite rooms is at P 5,000 which is good for three persons.
Considering their location, services and amenities, The Loft Hotel is indeed a good value for money for visitors of the "City of Majestic Waterfalls". They currently don't have a website but you can contact them on Facebook or you can book for rooms online through Agoda by clicking here.
